How To Start An Internet Business But Do Not Know How?

My problem too . . . until I decided to do something about it!

Over the past years, I have dedicated my time to learning what works online, finding the successful internet
marketing experts that provide the best money making products.

Most people want and need help to succeed with their internet business online or their affiliate marketing program, but do not know the essential things to look for and where to look.

Essential things to look for:

1. What types of advertising work best.
2. What type of advertising works FAST!
3. How to get Google to send people to your website.
4. Which search engines will send you free traffic.
5. How you can sell top products today.
6. Reviews of the top traffic generating products.
7. What to avoid when doing business online.
8. Articles jam packed with tips and information a person needs to make money online.

Marketing tools offered by the successful experts for their affiliates of their programs include:

A product review page. When a person can copy and paste the program to a file, with an affiliate ID number embedded in the copy, this makes for easy page building on a persons web site.

Text Links. A must, if the program offers none, pass on it.

Banner Ads. Also a must. I select the banners that are not animated. My belief, animation detracts the visitors attention from focusing on the page message. My opinion.

Email Copy. When using an autoresponder, this makes setting up a series of follow ups much easier.

Classified Ads copy. Much like email copy, possibly 4 or 5 lines to conform to classified ad sites.

Solo ads copy. Similar to a products review page. Keep to about 400 to 500 words.

NOTE: When a person discovers affiliate program with all of these marketing tools, that person hit a gold mine. Do not become discouraged, I know a few experts, with money making programs, offering many of these tools.

Many people today suffer from two things. These things, when combined, are almost always FATAL to their
success. They are:

1. Too little time to do deep research. A fact, it takes TIME and MONEY to learn what works online.

2. Falling prey to slick sales letters. Suffering from INFORMATION OVERLOAD?

Think about this.

Our parents can not teach us to succeed online...
Universities can not teach us about the Internet...
Experience does not prepare us for being online...

The answer? Go to the Experts. People who can help you succeed. People that mentor internet marketers.

Why learn from the experts? Saves a person time and money! The experts have the, How to Start an Online Business, figured out. My advice is to go with the proven leaders. The ones with 5 years or more experience online.

... it All Started With a Single Adwords Campaign . . .

SUBJECT: it all started with a single Adwords campaign...

Let me take you back to the internet marketing scene last April.

Back then a single Adwords campaign was launched, one that would
eventually lead 24 "failing" affiliates down the path to financial
freedom - and result in me writing this message to you today.

Back then, a guide was released called Adwords Miracle. It launched
with no hype, just a single Adwords campaign.

Fast forward a few months, and word gets out about the product --
it goes viral. Many wonder how it happened...

That was April.

In September, the author decides he has had enough with the
"industry B.S.", and so he decides to take 12 newbies affiliates
under his wing and train them in the ways of the super affiliates.
Several make as much as $200 per day within a few weeks.

October, 3rd, 2006 - he releases a guide explaining how he did it,
"Affiliate Project X".

The industry goes mad, and several sales records are broken.

And everyone thought that it all ended there.

But the truth is that, it was building up to THIS moment.

Because last month the author - who simply calls himself "Chris" -
asked for applications for another 12 "test subjects" for "new,
devious affiliate marketing techniques". He received over 1,000
applications within days.

Then he chose the *next* 12 to test his methods on - and then
dissapeared underground.

Until this week, when information started surfacing...

Apparently the guide would specifically address the problems
affiliates have in 2007.

AND it would be backed up by PROOF and an assortment of
step-by-step methods.

That was the IDEA.

But what about the *truth* - do you want to know what I really think?

Well, the guide has just gone live, and its called "Day Job Killer".

I got my hands on a pre-launch copy last week: and when it's all
said and done, ...was it worth waiting 9 months for?

Let me put it this way: it may possibly be the missing link for
100,000 ClickBank affiliates, and 300,000 Adwords users.

Let me explain what I mean by that...

Specifically, if you have either lost money on Adwords, or failed
to sell products through ClickBank, this guide will explain exactly
why.

It has worked on the twelve affiliates Chris tested it on, and it
CAN do the same for you.

If you can't wait to check it out, click here:

Day Job Killer

But I have to give a disclaimer.

Success apparently comes at a cost: the guide is NOT pleasant - in
fact it's brutal at times.

It includes techniques like:

CAMPAIGN NUKING
-- how to steal the Adwords campaigns from ANY
advertiser (even the big players), underbid them and do it in the
most brutal way possible.

DIRECT LINKING ON CRACK -- wow. This is incredible, but Chris has
managed to give new life to the "google cash" method of
advertising. This is the ultimate solution for lazy affiliates
everywhere... possibly the most potent technique in the entire
manual, all explained in step-by-step detail.

THE LEVELLER -- how to "level" a guru, take his customers and use
them to build your own laser-targeted list of buyers. And make $100
per day from a $10 ad spend. This one is insane, and its going to
annoy a lot of gurus when they learn about it.

One more thing: *each* technique includes real profit-pulling
examples; all of which have been tested on "average" affiliates by
Chris personally.

You heard it here first: Day Job Killer is going to make thousands
of affiliates financially free in the next week, and it has my
HIGHEST personal recommendation. It is essentially an assortment of
powerful, unknown techniques that have allowed Chris to reach a
SEVEN FIGURE income level in a little over a year.

Oh - and one more thing, the price you see below is *temporary*.

Chris is going to increase the price at some point in the next few
days (he lived up to his word and did it with Project X within 72
hours, no-one knows exactly when it will happen with this one).

So, act FAST if you want to get in on this one at the ground floor:

Day Job Killer

If you are a ClickBank affiliate or an Adwords user, you NEED this
- before the price goes up, and before your competition start using
it.

Many are already calling it the "missing link" and at this limited
price, I can see why.

Last chance to see what the future of affiliate marketing looks like:

Day Job Killer

Yours,

Alan Grundemeier

P.S. Remember the price is going to increase soon. You really don't
want to miss this one: Day Job Killer

Don't Let The Turkeys Get You Down
© Charlie Page

Have you ever heard the story of the baby eagle that fell from it's nest only to land in a family of turkeys?

He grew up thinking he was a turkey.

He ate with the turkeys. He slept with the turkeys. He even acted like a turkey.

But he knew in his heart that he wasn't a turkey. And one day he looked up to see an eagle soaring majestically in the afternoon sky.

At that moment he knew that he was an eagle.

When it comes to websites that want to sell you something, there are turkeys and there are eagles.

If you want to save the time and heartbreak of wasting both time and money, it will be important to be able to spot the eagles, and avoid the turkeys.

Here's how you can do that.

=====> HOW TO SPOT AND AVOID THE TURKEYS

1. They "Teach" What They Have Not Yet Experienced

Ah, my personal pet peeve. The Internet is littered with sales letters written by people who have only sold their "how to" book or audio or
membership.

They haven't done what they 'teach'. They just sell books.

They read books, visit forums, ask questions, and restate what people tell them. Then they sell it.

Sure, they know how to write a sales letter and sound slick, but they have not experienced operating and succeeding in an online business themselves.

If you are considering buying a product, look first to see that the person behind the product is walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

2. They Use Very High Pressure Techniques

Today we are seeing more and more "one time offers" than ever before. These pages begin with "You will only see this page once!" and then go on to make some outrageous offer where you get a million dollars worth of stuff for about 15 cents.

Sure. Right. Okay.

Why is such incredible pressure necessary? It's not necessary, but it works. And because it works more and more sites are using it, and more and more consumers are getting hurt.

The good news is that there is a simple solution to the problem of high pressure sales tactics ...

Don't buy the offer.

After all, how many of these offers have you bought and never used?

3. They Lie

Here's one example. They send you something "free" that is valued at over a hundred bucks. But when you click the link and get to the page you discover that you have to buy something to get the freebie.

And who in the world invented the phrase "ethical bribe"?

That's like saying "good bad guy" or "diet cheesecake".

I think we're smarter than that, don't you?

4. They Are Almost Always Negative

Have you noticed how some websites make you feel? Some sites just make you want to jump off a bridge. Everything is dark, negative, and full of fear. If you don't act now you will lose your chance forever!

Of course, their product can solve the problem. ;)

Yeah. Right. Okay.

If you find a website that tells you that email is dead or the chance to succeed is passing you by or any other fear related motivators my advice is simple ...

Close the browser.

Find someone who is looking up and will share openly (and specifically) how you can get your share of the success you want and deserve. Find an eagle.

=====> HOW TO SPOT AND FLY WITH THE EAGLES

1. They Have Rock Solid Experience

It's easy to spot the real people when you know what to look for. The people you can trust will usually have either a very deep level of knowledge about one subject or solid knowledge on various topics.

The knowledge and experience a person has will usually express itself in the form of information products, articles, information on a website, or a combination of these things.

If you look, you should be able to find other products or (preferably) free articles or an ezine you can read to get a sense of who the person is before parting with your money.

2. They Share Openly

There is always a pull for people who succeed online between giving free advice and selling their products. That's natural and to be expected.

It's unfair to expect people who sell information to give away everything they know free.

But if the answer you get to *every* question you ask is "buy my product" then be very careful about doing business with that person.

People who are succeeding online are making enough money that they don't require that every phone call or email result in a sale.

3. They Can Be Reached

If you can't reach someone by phone or email with a question, then watch out.

This is not to say that everyone out there will answer their own phone or reply to your email in five minutes.

But there is a growing trend among websites to not answer pre-sale or non-customer questions at all, and that must stop.

After all, you will be paying your hard-earned money, and they can't take 2 minutes to answer your question? I don't think so.

Would you buy a suit or dress from a store that never answers their phone? Probably not.

Remember this - the level of access you get to a person before a sale happens is often an indicator of the type of support you will receive after the
sale.

4. They Lift You Up, Not Put You Down

Great websites lift you up and help you see the possibilities without resorting to hype. They encourage you that you can learn what you need to know and accomplish your goals. They speak (as much as a website can) about you and your goals, not how wonderful they are and how much you should want to
be like them.

There is a fine line here that can be discerned very easily. Does the site make you feel good - feel like there are possibilities for you, or not?

To be sure, there are talented writers who write uplifting sales letters for sites that simply won't deliver the real thing, so be careful.

If you rely on more than one factor to make your decision about the site's credibility, you will protect yourself and avoid falling in among the turkeys.

The three things to remember are these ...

1. There are turkeys in the land. 2. Eagles don't fly with turkeys. 3. You were born to be an eagle.

When you choose who you do business with based on a combination of the things above, you will move quickly toward doing business with people who want more than just your money ... they want you to succeed.

And that is a beautiful thing indeed!

** New Web Site Design Dashboard Turns Web Page Creation Into A "No-Brainer"

Memo from: Alan Grundemeier

New Design Dashboard
Web site:Design Dashboard

Hi,

This is Alan Grundemeier

Do you need to design:

* Web sites?
* Sales pages?
* Mini sites?
* Blog graphics?
* Affiliate pre-sell pages?
* Landing pages?

You point. You click. You follow the big blue numbers. What could be simpler?

It's A to Z. All step-by-step screen caps supported by videos where needed.

It's a MASSIVE time saver and literally takes the pain out of the learning curve.

Here's what it does for you:

End Result:

a. Your own custom web site graphics that are a cut above.

b. You will do your own header graphics faster than you may imagine.

c. You will know how to do special effects like scanlines and handwritten notes.

d. You will be able to trick out templates you buy or create your own.

e. You save costs (No Photoshop CS or Dreamweaver needed).

f. You will get step-be-step instructions on ftp, getting your shopping cart up, hooking up your autoresponders, stick letters, fly ins, and every other detail we could think of.

g. Saves you the costs of design fees. At $150-$300 per header, just ONE and you've paid for this product.

h. Even if you still use a designer, there are times when you need it NOW, not later. You 100% can do it yourself and be surprised at how good a job you DID!

i. You can create your OWN templates just as good as many of 'em you buy -- and do it fast, once you learn the steps.

j. Most templates are NOT designed for "our type" of sites. So they're never quite right. You can do it yourself, get a better result AND save.

SHOULDN'T I OUTSOURCE?

I disagree with the "outsource everything" view. YES, you build a business. But in the beginning, there are times to outsource and times to do it yourself.
I did most everything myself early on. And as the money came in, I hired people to help out.

If you've got the bux to hire everything out, fine. But you STILL will end up waiting and waiting for designs when you could do it yourself in 10 to 30 minutes if you had a little basic knowledge.

Anyway, check it out:

Best wishes,

** Selling Great Products

Selling Great Products
© Charlie Page

E-commerce is wonderful, offering anyone with a dialup connection the ability to be in business for themselves, but at the end of the day, you've got to provide a great product.

What separates a great product from a "ho-hum" product? What products make people reach for their credit cards and buy now? What products *really* sell on the Internet?

Let's look together at three characteristics of a great product and how that applies to the real world.

GREAT PRODUCTS DELIVER ENDURING VALUE

The bottom line for your customer is "What's in it for me?" The more your product or service screams "Here's how you win!" the more value the customer will perceive. And the faster they will buy.

People buy products and services for many reasons. When all those reasons are boiled down, they come down to two. People want to make money or avoid losing money. Promise of gain. Fear of loss. Those are the big two. The more your product (and selling copy) say "Here's how you make money (or avoid losing money)" the more sales you will make.

Whether you sell a business opportunity, information, or the latest and greatest widget, be sure that your client will ACTUALLY receive the benefits they are promised. The more you choose products that really deliver, the more money YOU will make.

One word of warning. Some products that create value now, will be useless in the future. Only a few years ago many people were stuck with huge inventories of Beanie Babies as that fad ended. You must know that fads will end. Unless you can afford the losses associated with collecting, it's best to avoid fad products.

GREAT PRODUCTS HAVE UNIVERSAL APPEAL

While many products deliver great value, not all have universal appeal. Lear Jets are among the finest aircraft ever built, but you may go broke trying to sell them online. (Remember, we're talking about products to sell on the Web)

The key to a great online product is that its mass appeal allows you to take advantage of the #1 benefit the Web has to offer ... a HUGE marketplace. Be careful to choose or create products that can be marketed to a wide audience.

What products have universal appeal? While there are many, here's a short list to get your thinking started. You probably use some of these products or services every day.

Web hosting Web page design Autoresponders eBooks "How to" information Ad trackers Merchant accounts or payment processing Affiliate programs Advertising

While it is true that each of these product categories has plenty of competition, it's equally true that millions of people come online every month that need them. If you think it's too late to be a player in these areas, think again. Best of all, you can sell each of these products without actually providing the service by becoming an affiliate.

It has been often reported that after the California gold rush ended, the people who made and kept their money were the ones who sold the tools (like picks, shovels and mules) the miners used. A classic example of this is Levis jeans. Still being sold today, Levis has provided jobs and wealth for over a hundred years. I wonder how many of the "get rich quick" miners were still rich only 10 years later?

If you choose to sell products created by someone else, pay careful attention to who that someone is. The pure fact is that a product created by Marlon Sanders or Corey Rudl will sell better than one created by someone not as well known. That's the real world.

GREAT PRODUCTS CREATE REPEAT SALES

You have probably heard this statistic before. Studies reveal that it costs a whopping 10 times more to sell a customer a product the first time than the second time. It makes sense when you consider all the dollars you pour into advertising, product development, marketing, and so forth.

While products like vitamins, long distance service or a membership site may spring to mind as great products that create secondary sales, the truth is that almost any product can be used to generate backend profits.

One way to do this is to sell a series of products that build on each other.

To do this effectively you need to know your target market and what their needs are. Let's look at people just starting their Internet business as an example.

If you sell autoresponder services and make a sell to a fresh, new marketer, you have the perfect opportunity to let your service pave the way for more sales. Just think through what a new marketer might need. Let's look at three examples.

1. They might need to know how to use the autoresponder you just sold them, so you might offer them an eBook on autoresponders at a special "Thank you" price.

2. They might need copywriting for their new web site (or their autoresponder series) so you could offer them an e- course or eBook on writing.

3. They might need an easy way to collect money, so you could introduce them to a service like PayPal or offer them a merchant account.

The key is to think through the logical progression their business might take, and be there to offer them the next product they need *before* they go shopping for it. If your timing is good, and your offer a real value, you will be pleasantly surprised at how well this strategy works.

There are literally millions of products you can sell on the Web. How do you choose which one to sell now? You must know yourself and sell something you honestly believe in. The best-case scenario is that you use the product yourself. We never sell a product we don't use.

Once those criteria are met, make sure you are bringing a true value to clients, that your product will have broad appeal and that it either creates direct repeat sales or sets the stage for selling other products.

If you do these things you will begin to build a business that can last a lifetime.

>> Where's the Money?

Where's the Money?
© Charlie Page

You've heard it before and will hear it again. You MUST accept credit cards to succeed online.

While there have been many attempts to find a payment method other than credit cards, the fact is that paying by credit card is what people want.

People love to use their credit card on the Web for the same reason they buy overpriced gallons of milk at a corner store when a real market is only blocks away ... convenience.

As sellers we MUST make the buying process as quick and easy as possible in order to capture the most sales. The fact is that 95% or more of visitors won't buy the first time, so it's vital that we make it easy for the small percentage who want to buy now.

Let's take a look at the basics of what you need to know to choose a good merchant account and get a better view of the options available to you. There is a *lot* to cover so I'll keep it as brief as possible.

Here is the free resource page we prepared to help you decide. No affiliate links, just information.

http://www.directoryofezines.com/merchant.html

LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE

The first thing to do is understand the lingo. Here are four terms you must understand.

1. The term "Merchant Account" can be used strictly (to mean the actual bank) or broadly (to mean the entire process).

2. The word "points" is used instead of interest rate (when they say you pay two points, they mean 2%).

3. The word "discount" is actually a fee you pay them for collecting your money.

4. The "Merchant Account Provider" you choose will not be the bank you are doing business with, but a sales organization (read affiliate) of that bank and many other banks as well.

So when a Merchant Account Provider says "We'll set you up with a discount of two points," he or she really means that they will deduct 2% of every dollar as a fee. And you thought a discount meant you *saved* money. ;)

Here are some various terms you will need to know.

FIRST THINGS FIRST There are merchant accounts and there are third-party payment processors. PayPal and Clickbank fall in the latter category.

While third party processors are super-convenient, offering no credit check, monthly fees, etc, they can be very costly if you aren't careful.

For example, let's say you sell $10,000 a month worth of products that sell for $10 each. That's 1000 transactions. You'll pay huge fees to use a third-party provider who imposes a one dollar per-transaction fee.

And $10,000 is your gross sales, not your net sales. Just because you sell $10,000 doesn't mean you keep $10,000. It's all about how much you keep!

Also, many people assume that payment processors like PayPal are banks, which they are not.

While I have used some of these third-party processors myself, it pays for you to know the facts. Be sure to do the math that is appropriate for *your* situation.

The rest of this article deals with merchant accounts, not third party payment processors.

MERCHANT ACCOUNT PROVIDER The people who set up your account (the salespeople) and provide you the software (a virtual terminal as defined below) in order to process sales manually if you need to.

MERCHANT ACCOUNT This is a *bank* account with a bank you will probably never see. This bank collects the money when you make sales and sends it to your bank, usually 48 hours later. Be VERY careful about how long you wait to get paid. This can vary from 24 hours to six weeks! Your merchant account provider will know how long it takes.

PAYMENT PROCESSOR The people who process the payment. They verify that the card is good and authorize the transaction. Authorize.net is the biggest player in this game.

VIRTUAL TERMINAL You know those machines they swipe your card through when you shop at your favorite store or dine out? This is the software version of that machine. You will usually *lease* this from the merchant account provider for a few years or buy it for several hundred dollars up front. Be careful, prices WILL vary.

WATCH THOSE FEES! Ah, the fees. Don't forget that credit card companies and banks make billions of dollars a year on fees. Here are some you need to nail down. Be sure to ask if there any other fees since the sales person could forget to mention them.

GATEWAY FEE To the best of my understanding, this is a fee you pay for the bank and the payment processor to communicate with each other. No one has ever explained this to my satisfaction. I think it's a fee they charge because they can.

DISCOUNT As mentioned above, this is *not* a discount you get, it's a discount you pay. The discount is a percentage you pay for having your payments processed and monies deposited in your account.

I've seen "discounts" at low as 1.2% and as high as 6%. Shop hard here, but don't let this be the *only* factor in your decision.

TRANSACTION FEE This is a fee you pay per transaction in *addition* to the discount. This will usually be around 35 cents, but can go up to $2 if you are using a third party billing company.

MINIMUM SALES FEE This is a fee you pay if your sales fall below a certain minimum in a month. This can vary and some don't charge it. It's usually about $25, but you don't pay it if your discount exceeds this amount.

CONGRATULATIONS ... YOU'RE IN THE MAIL ORDER BUSINESS! Don't be surprised if your Merchant Account Provider tells you that you are a "mail order" type of business. This only means that the credit card companies and banks haven't come up with a good label for Net businesses.

They say mail order because we, like mail order companies, don't see the customer face-to-face.

WHEN DO I GET PAID? This one is *huge*. It can range from 24 hours to six weeks, depending on whom you choose. Be careful and ask questions here. "Usually within" is not a good way for them to answer.

You also need to understand something about when they SETTLE (pay you) and when they BATCH, which is when they count up the sales for the day and tell you via email how much your sales were.

HOW ARE YOUR RESERVES? Since there is so much fraud in the world (not just on the Net) a merchant account provider will often require a reserve. That's a certain amount of money that they hold in "reserve" against refunds so you don't go to Jamaica with all your money and leave them holding the bag.

This can be a percentage of sales or a fixed dollar amount. They usually hold this money back from your sales a small percentage at a time so it doesn't put you out of business.

Be *very* careful about companies that take a percentage with no ceiling. Five percent may sound small, but 5% over a one year period can be huge bucks.

Last but not least ....

REFUNDS AND CHARGEBACKS You know all about this from the consumer side already. If you don't like a product you contact the merchant. If they don't give you satisfaction you call the card company and like magic the charge goes away.

When you are the merchant and a customer returns an item, that is a REFUND. All merchants give refunds from time to time.

When a customer calls the credit card company instead of you, that is a charegback. Chargebacks usually cost $25 plus the money you refund. Having a clearly stated guarantee will avoid almost all chargebacks.

*****

Wow. That's a lot of information to digest at one time.

Did I make it sound like it's complicated and not worth the effort?

If so, nothing is farther from the truth. As a seller, one of your most important responsibilities is to be easy to buy from. If you can increase sales by only 2% by becoming easier to buy from, the impact on your bottom line will be huge.

Just remember this. YOU are the customer when you buy a merchant account, so ask questions until you are satisfied. As you will see on our resource page, there are many providers to choose from, so take your time and be careful. This is one of the most important relationships you will have in your business.

If you are serious about your Internet business it's wise to look into a merchant account. The easier you make the buying process for the customer, the more sales you will make.
